Something new for 2024: Open Workshop is an open-ended class where you can bring your own project!

If you’ve been hoping to get into the studio for a group class but have a specific project in mind, Open Workshop allows you to get personalized instruction at a lower rate than our private lessons.
To Book:
- Select the workshop date from the drop down.
- Select your start time from the drop down. Times available are 10-12pm or 12-2pm.
- If you would like to book 4 hours (10-2pm), add both time slots to your cart for the same day. A full day discount will be applied at checkout.
This is a wonderful opportunity for students who:
- Need help troubleshooting a project they’re in the middle of.
- Want to work through a specific pattern with assistance: bags, garments or quilts are welcome!
- Are looking to learn quick pattern alterations for garments, such as a Full Bust adjustment or how to lengthen/shorten something. We are not able to cover involved fittings/pattern drafting in Open Workshops, please book a private lesson.
- Need studio space to work in and want moral support as they try a new technique or skill.
This is an Adult Advanced Beginner class. Students who attend must be able to operate the sewing machine independently. If you’re brand new to sewing, please join one of our upcoming Intro to Sewing classes or book a private lesson to cover the basics first. But as long as you have learned the basics, we can help you through your project!
Students are responsible for their own materials and patterns but as always in a class at Old Spool, you will have use of our Viking Jade 20 machines and all our tools and while you’re here you get 15% off supplies purchased in the shop! You are welcome to bring your own machine if you prefer.
Workshop/Class Cancellation Policy: By purchasing a class or workshop you agree that there will be no refunds, transfers or credit given for the class after the designated start time. 100% refunds or class credit is available if requested up to 72 hours before the start of a class/workshop/private lesson, minus the 3% credit card processing fee. No refunds will be given within 72 hours of the start of a class/lesson, class credit will be issued but future dates are not guaranteed. No-Shows without an attempt to contact us prior to the start time of class (email, voicemail etc.) will not be refunded, transferred or given credit.
