Retail Returns and Exchanges, both in store and online:

If you are unsatisfied with your purchase for any reason, we accept returns of items that are unopened and in the original packaging for a full refund, store credit or equal exchange within 30 days of the original purchase date. A valid receipt must be presented at the time of return in any of the following forms: printed or e-mailed copy.

We do not accept returns on the following items:

Fabric that is sold by the yard.
Items that have been opened, such as packaged notions, or sewing patterns.
PDF Patterns.
Sale items.
Shop samples, such as quilts or bags.
Pre-loved or floor model sewing machines

Sale items are final sale and are not eligible for refunds or replacement. Only regular priced items may be refunded or exchanged.

All of the above policies apply to online orders/transactions. Customers who purchase products online are responsible for the return/exchange postage.

Online Orders: If your package arrives and any of the following issues occur, please contact us at [email protected] within 72 hours of receiving your package:

Wrong item received
Missing an item from your order (without being first notified by Old Spool)
Defective items.

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged because of poor packaging. We are not responsible for items that have been lost, stolen, or damaged during transit. Once packages leave our store they are the responsibility of the shipping carrier and we have no control over its journey to you. If cut fabric has imperfections/damages that we did not notice, you may email [email protected] with photos and a description of the issue and we will do our best to remedy the situation according to our discretion.

Sewing Machine Returns and Exchanges:

Sewing machines may be returned for a refund or store credit less a 5% restocking fee if they are unopened and in their original packaging within 30 days of purchase. A valid receipt must be presented at the time of return in any of the following forms: printed or e-mailed copy.

Opened sewing machines may be returned within 30 days of purchase, less a 20% restocking fee. All original accessories included with the sewing machine must be present at the time of the return, or Old Spool reserves the right to adjust the restocking fee to account for the missing part.

Pre-loved sewing machines are final sale.

Class Cancellation Policy:
By registering for class you agree to the following:

Workshop/Class Cancellation Policy: By purchasing a class or workshop you agree that there will be no refunds, transfers or credit given for the class after the designated start time. 100% refunds or class credit is available if requested up to 72 hours before the start of a class/workshop. No refunds will be given within 72 hours of the start of class unless your spot can be filled from a wait list, otherwise future class credit will be issued. No-Shows without an attempt to contact us prior to the start time of class (email, voicemail etc) will not be refunded, transferred or given credit. No make up classes are available.

In the case of inclement weather or class cancellation by the instructor a full refund or credit towards a future class will be given. The instructor reserves the right to cancel class if there is insufficient enrollment, most classes require 2-3 students to run.

Certain workshops are final sale and will be indicated as such in the class description. All students who attend sewing workshops will be asked to sign a hold harmless waiver. Review our Hold Harmless Agreement, here.

After School Classes:

Age Requirement and Prerequisite:

Due to insurance reasons, all children who take machine sewing classes at Old Spool Sewing Studio must be at least 8 years old. No exceptions.
It is mandatory that all new students under the age of 18 take the Intro to Sewing Workshop or the equivalent private lesson before they begin the After School Classes. You may register for an Intro to Sewing class at the same time you register a new student for After School classes. If your child has been to the studio for a Scout Event or Birthday party, they still need to take the Intro Class.
If you do not register a new student for an Intro to Sewing Class or we do not have record of them having taken the class, you will be refunded immediately and your spot in class will be forfeited. Exceptions are made for children who already have learned basic skills and have contacted us to discuss, but we still urge you to register them for the Intro to Sewing class so they can learn how we do things here and get to know us as teachers.

Summer Camps:

Summer camp registration is non-refundable and non-transferable to other classes/after school programs.
There are no make ups offered for Summer Camp and we do not prorate for missed days.
Refunds are only available if we can fill your spot in camp with another student who has taken our prerequisite class. In the case we can fill your spot, we will process your refund less the 3% credit card processing fee.
Camp registration is not transferrable to private lessons, group or after school classes.
