Temperature Quilt Block Party : Prize Announcement!

The Overview

The kits are prepped and our machines are threaded, we’re just waiting for July 1st to get going! If you haven’t heard about our 2023 Block Party yet, it’s a block of the month/ sew along we’re hosting from July-August this year and we’d love for you to join us!

This year, for our inaugural Old Spool Block Party, we’re stitching up temperature quilts with a range of beautiful yarn dyed solids from Studio E Fabrics. For a quick overview, participants who purchase a kit (either for the full quilt top or to make a single block to turn into a pillow or wall hanging) will record the temperature highs and lows for 6 months and turn those into sweet little flying geese blocks. We’ll share inspiration along the way for how to set up your monthly blocks into your final quilt top and cheer you all the way through to 2024!

Monthly Prizes to Win

We think we’d be poor party hosts without a little party favor for our friends, so we planned a series of monthly giveaways for those who are working on their temperature quilt: when you share your monthly progress with us by either tagging the shop on social media (Instagram or Facebook) or emailing progress photos to the shop, you’re entered to win monthly giveaways, which will include gift cards to the shop, fabric and tools! We’ll pull a random winner at the beginning of each month from those who are posting about their temperature quilt WIP to win!

Grand Prize Giveaway

The best part of all, though, is a nice Grand Prize Giveaway that everyone who purchases a kit is entered to win! Whether or not you finish up your quilt by our deadline in January,* each Block Party participant is entered to win our grand prize giveaway: one free longarm service by Seaglass Quilting (for a quilt up to 54” x 80′) that we hope you use on your temperature quilt! That’s a service valued at $100! Plus we’ll throw in a gift card to the shop and fabric which will round out the grand prize value to $150

*(why a deadline? well, we have special discounts at the end for those who get all their blocks together and need their backing and batting

How to Join our Party

Think this is the year you want to make a Temperature Quilt? Then pop over to the shop and get yourself a kit and a Wing Clipper ruler at a discount (promise, it will make this process a breeze!) and wind a handful of bobbins before we get going on July 1st! We’ll be checking in before then to make sure you know what’s in store for you each month: how to record the temps plus sharing a few different ways to make flying geese blocks so you can decide what’s the best for your sewing practice.
